Jeez Intel, Never Knew You Could Mess Up This Badly... (Intel i9-10980XE and Ryzen Threadripper 3970&3960X Review)
Today was quite in odd in total honesty. Never have I seen Intel and AMD release their CPU's on the same embargo date, Never! It was real interesting especially since these were the companies HEDT CPU Lineups. Intel today had released their "brand-new" i9-10980XE, yeah pretty obnoxious. I put brand-new in quotes because Intel didn't actually manufacture a new CPU. They simply just rebranded their 9980XE CPU, added minor tweaks like increased base and boost clock etc, nothing major. The one thing that really just made me mad, Intel purposely set their embargo release time earlier just so that reviewers like Anand's Tech and LinusTechTips couldn't do a direct comparison at that moment. It comes to show how scared Intel really is now, especially when their new 10980XE actually LOSES to the 9980XE in multiple benchmarks. Example: in V-Ray's benchmark, the 9980XE beats the 10980XE by a whopping 2000+ points!

So as of right now, the 10980XE is a complete failure. In the right mind, there should not be any need of upgrading, unless you are intrigued by the next topic, the Threadripper 3960X and 3970X.
In the later hours, the embargo of the new HEDT AMD CPU's was lifted and all reviews came pouring out, one by one. The 3960X (24 Cores, 48 Threads) and 3970X (32 Cores, 64 Threads) come in at $1399 and $1999. Yes, extremely expensive, but when directly comparing this to Intel, I see it as a respectable price point. Just last year Intel had priced their i9-9980XE at ~$1700, so this AMD's pricing is no problem. Obviously, more cores = more performance, and this statement shines brightly with the new AMD CPU's.

As shown, the 3970X demolishes the 10980XE and 9980XE by MINUTES, in this Logo Render performed in Blender 2.79. In my mind, it just seems that Intel isn't trying anymore. They are still using the same old 14nm manufacturing process, while AMD has moved all their new CPU's (*exception for their "G" lineup, integrated GPU processors) to a 7nm node. I love the effort from AMD, and anxious to see how their 3980X and 3990X performs.
